Make uncertainty visible
An agent may produce a plausible answer even when the available context does not establish every detail. Ask it to mark estimates, unresolved points, and assumptions rather than smoothing them into confident prose.
Provide the missing source or context when you have it, and narrow the question to the specific decision you need to make. A focused follow-up often reveals whether the uncertainty comes from missing input, conflicting evidence, or a true limit in the available information.
Verify before taking consequential action
Check claims that affect money, access, safety, legal duties, or production systems against primary records or current official documentation. Requesting citations helps you locate evidence, but a citation still needs to be opened and checked for relevance.
If the evidence remains incomplete, preserve that limitation in the final decision and choose a reversible next step where possible. Do not treat confident wording as proof that the underlying fact has been established.
