Choose a structure that matches how you work
Use prefixes for durable categories such as project, environment, or content type, then keep names beneath each prefix consistent. A scheme like `project/environment/category/` is easier to scan than names that combine unrelated labels in different orders. Choose the structure before a bucket fills with ad hoc paths.
Avoid putting private or customer-specific data in a path that is shared with unrelated work. Prefixes organize names; they do not by themselves prove that access is restricted. Keep access settings and object naming as separate decisions.
Review scope before an operation
When a task targets a prefix, verify the exact prefix and a few representative object names first. Similar prefixes can look alike, especially when one is a shorter name that also begins another. Ask for a listing or read-only check when you need to confirm scope before making changes.
Before a write or deletion, compare the proposed target with the intended category and check whether the operation could include nested paths. Keep a written naming convention for people and workflows that share the bucket. Predictable prefixes make organization clearer, while a scope review helps prevent work on the wrong set of objects.
