What should I verify after deploying a site?

A deployment completing is only the first check. Reviewing the actual published address confirms that visitors can reach the expected pages and that the files needed to render them are present.

Check the live experience

Open the deployed address in a fresh browser tab and load the homepage directly. Follow a few important navigation links, refresh a nested page, and inspect images, styles, and downloads. These checks catch paths that worked in a local preview but were not included or referenced correctly in the deployed files.

If the service provides a deployment summary, compare its file list and any reported skipped items with the release you intended to publish. Confirm that the expected entry page exists and that no required asset was omitted. A successful upload does not prove every route or interaction behaves as intended.

Test the custom domain separately

If you attached a custom domain, test both the service's published address and your own hostname. Confirm that the DNS points where intended and that the secure version of the address loads without a browser warning. Domain and certificate setup can have a different readiness timeline from uploading the site files.

When something is wrong, isolate the layer: compare the deployed version with the local build, then check the hostname and its DNS configuration. Change one cause at a time and repeat the same check. This makes it easier to tell whether the issue lies in the files, the route, or the domain connection.
