Find independent work boundaries
Good subtasks have distinct inputs and outputs, such as auditing separate service types or drafting self-contained sections. Define dependencies and shared files first; two workers changing the same source can create merge conflicts or inconsistent decisions.
Give each subtask a bounded result, relevant context, and acceptance criteria. Avoid splitting a short task into overhead-heavy pieces or assigning work that depends on unresolved decisions.
Integrate and review the combined result
Reserve time to inspect each result against the original request and check that terminology, links, and assumptions agree. A completed subtask is evidence of that portion only, not proof the overall goal is complete.
If one subtask fails or changes scope, update the integration plan and identify its downstream effects. Report unfinished dependencies rather than silently dropping them from the final result.
