# What happens when I remove a managed Cloud Object Storage?
Removing an IaGenify Cloud Object Storage deletes the storage and its data permanently. This is different from removing a single object, and you should treat it as an irreversible account-level change.

## Distinguish deleting a storage from deleting an object
An object-level delete targets one key in a storage. Removing the managed storage removes the storage resource itself and deletes its contents for good. The storage API reports that the data was deleted; it does not provide an undo operation for the contents.
Before removing a storage, confirm that it is the intended resource and check whether it is the default storage used by an application or workflow. Export or copy any objects that must be kept, and update dependent services to use another supported storage before removing it. A label alone may not be enough to distinguish two resources; verify the storage ID and service type.
## Plan recovery before removal
If the storage contains important files, copy them to another approved destination and verify the copied objects before deleting the original. Check the object count and a sample of keys and content, especially if the data is used by production workflows. Keep the original available until those checks are complete.
Removing the storage is not a method for freeing a small amount of space; it deletes all data in that resource. If you only need to reduce usage, remove specific unneeded objects or add capacity instead. Once the managed storage has been removed, do not assume the platform can restore its previous contents.
