# How can I share a file by email without attaching a large copy?
For a large file, consider sharing a link from storage with access limited to the intended recipients instead of attaching a duplicate. Verify the link permissions, expiration behavior, and recipient experience before sending it.

## Choose attachment or link deliberately
Attachments create another copy in each recipient's mailbox and may exceed size limits or be blocked by mail systems. A link can reduce message size and keep one managed source, but only if the storage access settings are correct.
Use a recipient-specific or otherwise scoped sharing method when available. Avoid public links for confidential documents, and do not assume that an unlisted URL is private if anyone who receives it can open it.
## Verify access and reduce exposure
Test the link with an account that has the same access as a recipient. Confirm the file shown is the intended version, that unauthorized users are denied, and that the link does not expose unrelated folder contents.
In the email, describe what the file is and what action recipients should take. If access should end, use the service's documented revocation or expiration control and verify that access is actually removed afterward. [← Back to Mail FAQs](https://help.iagenify.com/faqs/mail)
