# Which domain extensions can I buy?
An extension appearing in search is not by itself a guarantee that every name can be registered.

## What this means in practice
Availability is checked for the specific name, and some registries impose eligibility rules.
If an extension cannot be supported under those requirements, checkout will stop rather than promise an order it cannot complete.
## Practical guidance
The available extensions come from the registrar's live catalog, and each registry sets its own eligibility rules. That means a search result is not simply a list of familiar suffixes: some extensions may be unavailable, and some require conditions the registration flow cannot satisfy. The checkout process stops when an extension's requirements cannot be supported.
Search for the exact name and extension you want, then review the result and any eligibility information before proceeding. If an extension does not appear or cannot continue to checkout, do not assume that changing the spelling will resolve a registry restriction. Choose another supported extension or check the registry's requirements. Availability can change, so treat a result as current search information rather than a reservation until the purchase is completed. [← Back to Domains FAQs](https://help.iagenify.com/faqs/domains)
