# How can I find domains that may be nearing expiration?
The domain expiring lookup checks registry data for domains whose expiry falls within a chosen window. It defaults to 30 days, and domains whose registry does not provide an expiry estimate can still appear with `daysLeft: null`.

## Use the expiry window as an early review list
Choose a `withinDays` period that gives you time to contact the registrar and verify renewal settings. The lookup reads current registry information when called rather than relying on a cached date, which helps avoid acting on an outdated expiry value. Use the returned domain name, expiration date, and registrar details to identify which account needs attention.
The result is informational and does not renew the registration or confirm that automatic renewal is enabled. IaGenify manages DNS for domains you attach, while the registrar controls the registration and its renewal. Open the registrar account to check payment status, contact details, and the actual renewal controls.
## Interpret missing dates carefully
If the registry does not disclose an expiry date, the domain may remain in the result with `daysLeft: null`. That means the lookup cannot calculate the remaining time; it does not mean the domain is permanent or safely renewed. Keep it on your review list and verify its status with the registrar.
A date inside the selected window is a prompt to check, not proof that the domain will stop working on that exact day. Registrar grace periods, renewal processing, and registry updates can differ. Confirm the authoritative registration status before changing DNS or telling users that a domain has expired. [← Back to Domains FAQs](https://help.iagenify.com/faqs/domains)
