## Practical guidance
Connecting a domain and transferring its registration are separate decisions. You can connect a domain you already own and manage its DNS through IaGenify while leaving registration and renewal with the registrar you currently use. A transfer is a separate process that changes which registrar manages the registration; connecting the domain does not begin that process.
To connect it, use the domain setup flow and follow the DNS instructions for the services you want to use. Before changing nameservers or records, note which existing services depend on the domain, including mail, so you can preserve their required DNS entries. Keep renewal reminders with the current registrar unless you later complete a transfer. This lets you use IaGenify for DNS without accidentally treating the connection as a registrar change.
