# Can I review an agent's proposed changes before they are applied?
An agent can explain a task and prepare an action, but review matters when that action changes files or uses connected tools. Permission choices let you decide how much approval a run needs.

## Choose an approval level for the task
For exploratory work, a mode that asks before each sensitive action gives you a chance to inspect the tool and its proposed inputs. Read the target path, command, or connected service carefully: the same operation can be harmless in a test folder and disruptive in a production workspace. If you deny an action, give the agent a narrower next step where possible.
A more permissive mode can reduce interruptions for familiar, bounded work, but it also gives the run more room to act without a fresh decision. Match the permission mode to the task's impact, the tools enabled, and whether you will be present to observe the run. Do not assume that a clear natural-language request replaces the permission setting.
## Inspect the result, not only the request
Approval is a checkpoint, not proof that the result is correct. After an allowed change, inspect the affected file or output and confirm it matches the intended scope. If the agent reports that it completed a step, compare that report with the actual result before building later work on it.
For recurring tasks, record what the agent may change and what should remain untouched. Keep a recoverable copy of important work and avoid granting broad access solely to make a single run easier. These habits keep human review meaningful while still letting the agent handle routine steps. [← Back to Agent FAQs](https://help.iagenify.com/faqs/agent)
